Below are examples of how we can help reduce your ‘double chin’ using DCA. Use the slider to see the difference.

Yes, or at least very long term. DCA (deoxycholic acid) is a unique compound that’s found naturally within the body. When injected into the body, the acid dissolves away unwanted fat cells, which are then permanently removed via the body’s waste processes.
Results are noticeable at four to six weeks and last for years, which means that touch-ups shouldn’t be needed. As for side effects, expect swelling and bruising but these should start to fade within three days of treatment.
Patients might experience a mild pinch or stinging during or shortly after the procedure. The number of DCA injections will depend on each patient’s individual analysis by the doctor, but many sessions consist of about 15 to 20 injections.
The cost will differ between clients but we generally do 5 units for $500 in one appointment. Most people will require a second (or sometimes even a third) treatment.
Common side effects include:
injection site reactions such as swelling, bruising, pain, numbness, redness, itching, warmth, hardness, tingling or burning sensation, skin tightness, nerve numbing.
Double-chin reducing injections (DCA)
Sometimes, no matter how much you diet or exercise, the fullness in the area under your chin will not go away. DCA is a prescription-only medicine which, when injected in this area, breaks down fat resulting in a more contoured neck profile and jawline.
These ‘double chin’ injections include a product which contains deoxycholic acid. This acid is found naturally in the body and helps absorb fat in food. When injected into the fat in the double chin area it permanently destroys the fat cells by a process known as adipocytolysis. Once the fat cells have been destroyed they cannot accumulate and store fat again.
Imagine your fat cells are balloons and double chin injections are darts. Injecting the product under the chin is like throwing a dart at fat cells. Once they have been popped they cannot be blown up again.
In addition to reducing neck fat, these lipolytic injections can also be used for body contouring for areas of the body such as the stomach or inner thigh.
The Treatment
Local anaesthetic and cooling packs are used to numb the area before treatment.
Small amounts of DCA are injected into the area at several points. The number of injections you need will vary according to the volume of excess fat you have. The doses will be tailored according to your need.
Most clients need at least two treatments (some will need up to a maximum of six treatments) and these are spaced four to eight weeks apart.
You can expect swelling in the area, sometimes significant swelling, for up to 14 days. You may also experience tenderness and bruising, warmth and tingling, small areas of hardness and itching around the treatment area.
This treatment is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
We will discuss the treatment and all possible side effects with you at your initial consultation and ensure all your questions are fully answered.
